African Hamony Day

The African Communities Association invites you to join in a celebration of diversity in the community on Sunday, 21 March, Billington Street Community Centre.

 

EVERYONE IS WELCOME for an afternoon of African drumming, dancing, Ethiopian coffee ceremony, workshops on drumming, belly dancing and laughing, kids craft to make and take home ( 3pm to 6pm ).

 

Everything is free including an Aussie sausage sizzle. Make it date with your family and friends.

Essence of Japan 2010 on Harmony Day

21st March (SUN) The Japanese Society of Gold Coast Inc. is going to organise "Essence of Japan 2010".

This is the Cultural introduction Event.

Intercultural Effectiveness

Workshops aim to increase effectiveness in working with clients, carers and family

members from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds (DCALB).

Subjects covered include:

  • Communty Profile and demography
  • Cross-cultural Communication
  • Bias, Habit, Stereotyping, Prejudice and Discrimination
  • Concepts of Face, Politeness and Courtesy
  • Messages We Send and Body Language
  • Influences on the Individual and Critical Incidents
  • Working and Living in Diverse Environments
  • Cultural Competence and the Business Case for Cultural Competence
  • Concepts of Diversity, its Value to our services
  • Accents and How to Reframe Your Skills to send Clearer Messages
  • What is Culture? Refresher and Definitions

QLD gov. Multicultural Policy review community consultation

QLD. Gov. MAQ (Multicultural Affairs Qld.) organised QLD Multicultural Policy review community consultation for the Gold Coast.

Around 45 people over 30 different community group & service provider attended the meeting.

Guest speaker Christine Smith MP for Burleigh opened the forum.

State member of parliament, opposition leader Mr. John-Paul Langbroek visited our office today.  We discussed about some of Multicultural issue on the Gold Coast.
